About

galenawrites.com: an evolving compendium of indulgences, featuring cocktails, food, art, travel, and a willful analysis of life’s diversions.
Hi, my name is Galena Mosovich and I’m a junkie. My appetite for joy is insatiable and I go in search of it by trade.
As a professional writer, I’m known for covering cutting-edge developments and personalities in cocktail culture, gastronomy, and visual art for top publications including The Miami Herald, Ocean Drive, Time Out, Serious Eats and Saveur. Three of my columns print weekly in the Herald, and I serve as the editor of visual arts for Miami.com, which is part of The McClatchy Company family alongside the paper.
In 2013, New York Magazine spotlighted me in The Urbanist, solidifying my reputation as an expert on all things Miami. Beyond the beach, I’ve traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina; Cognac/Paris, France; the Douro River Valley, Portugal; Saint Lucia; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Kyoto/Tokyo, Japan; London, England; and, Cancun/Oaxaca, Mexico to report on cultural movements and trends. In 2014, I was selected to judge the Spirited Awards for Tales of the Cocktail, the world’s elite cocktail festival held in New Orleans, as well as the World’s 50 Best Bars competition for Drinks International.

I devoted five years of service to the Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood as a board member and chair of the special events and Art Basel committees. I was also a founding member of the Wynwood Arts District Association (WADA).

In 2015, I awarded myself with a fellowship, moved to Paris, and survived the mania of being a full-time freelance writer. When I’m not traveling, I live and work (a lot) in Miami Beach.
